I'm the first to admit that things haven't gone the way I planned. I fell off the wagon months back, and decided I was quite happy indulging in my renewed fizzy pop and pizza addiction, ignoring my ibs and wheat intolerance and eating as much pizza and take-away as I could, 'treating' myself to chocolate on a daily basis, and sitting on my backside all day at work, then all evening at home.
I'm also the first to admit that at times I'm an absolute idiot and it doesn't matter how often I tell myself I'm happy, unless it's the truth after a while something's gotta give.
Today it was the bathroom scales.
So here I am again, ready to make the commitment to get myself back to eating healthy foods and working on my overall health and fitness. I'm now working full time so bootcamp sessions that I so dearly loved are out of the question, so it'll be hello to 5am wake ups to get to the gym from next week.
Yes, I said next week!
I'm not going to pretend that this revelation means I'm going 'straight' right away. Oh no. I'm planning on starting completely and utterly 100% on Monday; both diet and exercise. But for the next few days I'm making small changes in preparation. Today, I've started being gluten free again and cutting down caffeine Tomorrow I'm quitting tea/coffee. Baby steps to get ready for the full on assault on my unhealthy ways on Monday, in the hopes that it wont be too big a shock to the system.
So I'll be back on Monday with my weights and measurements. Really not looking forward to making these public again but it'll be great motivation to stick to the plan. I'll be posting up my exercises for the day, and talking about the foods I eat - again, great motivation to stick with it! I'll be honest - I wont say I've eaten a completely clean stir fry if actually all I've stuffed in my face is mars bars and crisps. I don't expect anyone to find it too interesting, it's more a record for myself so I can keep track - good weeks I can see what worked and bad weeks I can hopefully see what didn't work.
No more lardy-arse. By 31st July I want to be down to a dress size 12 (I'm currently somewhere between 16/18). I know how to achieve this, I just need to stick to the plan!
Wish me luck...

Overnight oats
Hi there. Been a while, right? I've taken a break from blogging (and if I'm honest eating healthy and regular exercise have fallen by the wayside too!) but after lunch with my lovely friend Laura yesterday where I was told off for not posting, I decided I really should get back into it! Actually, I miss it, and I miss how it does help me stay on track health wise, so it seems the sensible thing to do.
For my first post after my hiatus, I wanted to try something I've not done before: overnight oats. One of my favourite bloggers Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers raves about overnight oats, to the point where I've been wanting to try them out to see what the fuss is about! You can find out how she makes hers right here. I wanted to stick to her recipe, but I had no chia seeds, and when I went to buy Greek yogurt the shop was all out, so I had to switch things up a bit.
First thing's first, I measured out the rolled oats in a Tupperware box, and stirred in 6 ounces of the yogurt and 1/2 a cup of almond milk. I then mixed in 2 tbsp of flax seed, and remembering I had some in the cupboard, 1 tbsp of hemp seed. I'll be honest, I think it would have been better without the hemp. But it's not terrible with it, so it's fine! I popped the lid on the box and sat it in the fridge ready for breakfast this morning.
I was a bit apprehensive about eating it. Cold oats?! I love porridge, could quite happily live on it forever, but the thought of eating it cold turned my stomach a tad! I'm glad I did though. It's full of flavour, and very filling - I've only managed to eat half of it and had to put the other half back in the fridge for tomorrow.
Let me know if you try these. I think changing up the yogurt flavours and adding in fruit and nuts would be interesting. There's plenty of variations to try!

Post Workout Smoothie
Bootcamp training this morning was brilliant! I had such a terrible night sleep that I needed something to get the energy flowing, and a 40/20 workout was just the thing for that. By the time I'd finished the warm up I was raring to go!
However, when I got home I realised my iMac had shut itself down and when powered back up it wouldn't connect to the internet - not ideal for someone who has more work to do than time to do it!
Major stress alert!!!
I hadn't had any breakfast before training so I was starving - and trust me when I say I'm not fun to be around when I'm hungry. I'm so grumpy and short tempered! After shouting at my computer a few times and getting close to tears, I decided I needed a quick fix to pep me up. Enter the coconut and berry smoothie.
It was the perfect pick me up, even if the presentation isn't up to much!
I couldn't even tell you exact measurements to use as I just threw everything in the blender and that was that!
Ingredients
1 tin coconut milk
handful frozen berries
2 drops vanilla essence
1 chopped apple
I think a banana, chopped and frozen, would have been lovely in this smoothie too, and possibly an avocado. But alas I had neither to hand, so made do with this. Super creamy and delicious, it cheered me right up!
If only it could have worked on my iMac too...
